How to Choose Reliable Raw Hair Wholesale Vendors

Reliable raw hair wholesale vendors do three things before you pay anything. They tell you in writing what the hair actually is, they send a sample of the exact line you'll order, and they give you the same answers on the second order as on the first. Most trouble in raw hair wholesale starts when one of those gets skipped, so run that test on every vendor on your shortlist.
What Is Raw Hair Wholesale?
Raw hair wholesale means buying unprocessed human hair in volume, by the kilo, by the 100 g bundle or by the case, at a price meant for resale. The buyers are stylists with a retail side, new hair brands, wig makers and distributors. The seller is either the factory that sorts and wefts the hair, or a trader who buys from a factory and adds a margin. You can't tell which from a website."Raw" is the word that gets stretched most. Strictly, it means no steam, no color, no perm. Virgin hair may still have been steamed into a wave, and remy only describes which way the cuticles run. We cover that in our guide to the difference between raw and virgin hair. For picking a vendor, the practical point is simpler: the label is only worth what the written spec behind it says.
What to Look for in Raw Hair Wholesale Vendors
Four checks cover most of what goes wrong. Use the same four on every vendor.Hair sourcing and quality
Ask which lines are truly raw and which are steamed or colored, line by line. A vendor who sells a body wave as raw has told you something about the rest of the catalog.Nobody can hand you a donor's name, so don't accept "premium source" as an answer. A better sign is a vendor who can say roughly how many donors go into a bundle and what's done to the hair after it's collected. And skip grades like 8A, 10A or 12A as a ranking tool. Each seller sets those for itself, and there's no industry standard behind them.

The first bundle is rarely the problem. The fifth order is. Raw hair varies from donor to donor, so some color shift between lots is normal. A vendor who says every bundle is an identical 1B is either sorting very hard or not describing the hair honestly.Ask what usually changes between lots, how length is measured (straight, not stretched), and what weight tolerance applies to a bundle sold as 100 g. Drawn level belongs here too. Single drawn keeps the short hairs, so the ends look thin. Double drawn stays full to the tips but uses more hair, and the price follows. Our page on single vs double drawn hair shows how to check by eye.

MOQ and wholesale pricing
A 1 kg (2.2 lb) minimum is a small first order if it applies once, and a big one if it applies to every length and every texture. Ask which. Then put each quote on the same footing: price per 100 g at the same length and drawn level, because bundle weights differ from one seller to the next. Add shipping, duties and payment fees before you rank anything. If one quote for "raw" is far under the rest, there's usually a reason. Steamed hair, bundles heavy on short strands, or a bundle that weighs less than it says. The form changes the math as well: loose bulk hair is sold by weight for people who make wigs, while wefted products like natural black weave bundles include the sewing.

Samples and quality checks
Order a sample of the exact line, length and drawn level you plan to buy, not something similar. When it lands, weigh it and measure it straight. Wash one bundle and air dry it. Raw hair should settle back into its own pattern, with no coating and no chemical smell. Comb gently from the ends up and see how much sheds. If you plan to color, lift a small strand first. Then keep a few strands in a labeled bag with the date, and hold the bulk order up against them when it arrives.
One cost buyers miss right now: as of October 2026 the $800 de minimis exemption is suspended indefinitely, so even a sample parcel from overseas can be charged duty Federal Register, June 2026. Ask whether the quote is DDP, where the vendor pays duties, or DAP, where you pay on arrival.
Questions to Ask Raw Hair Wholesale Vendors
Send the same list to every vendor, in writing, and lay the answers side by side. Voice notes are easy to wriggle out of.- Which of your lines are raw, and is any of them steamed or colored at any stage?
- Is the MOQ per order, or per length and texture?
- What does a bundle weigh, and how much can that vary?
- Can I buy a sample of the exact line, and is the cost credited to my first order?
- What happens if the bulk order doesn't match the approved sample?
- How long does production take, and how long does shipping take? Quote them separately.
- Which carrier ships to the US, and who pays duties?
- Are you the factory, or do you buy from one?
How to Verify a Raw Hair Wholesale Vendor
A busy Instagram page proves very little. Anyone can post photos that aren't theirs, so check the seller before the money moves.- Run a reverse image search on their product photos. Borrowed photos turn up fast.
- Ask for a short video of your own bundles, taken in their workshop or stockroom, with today's date written on paper in frame.
- Get the legal company name and business registration, and check that it matches the name on the invoice and the bank account you're asked to pay. A "company" that wants payment to a personal account is a flag.
- Look for reviews the seller doesn't control, and for buyers who came back for a second order.
- Place a sample order, then a small second order, before the big one. Don't send the full amount up front by a method you can't reverse.

A stockroom video call shows more than a catalog does, but a tidy shelf doesn't prove what the hair is, so ask to see the lines you plan to order. If you're still building a shortlist, our roundup of raw hair vendors is a place to start.
Why Choose a Vietnamese Raw Hair Supplier?
Vietnamese hair tends to be thick and naturally dark, mostly straight to slightly wavy, which is why straight and body wave bundles and wigs are the usual lines. Natural curls are rarer, so ask whether a curly line is natural or set with steam or a perm.Northern Vietnam also has working factories you can buy from directly, which can save a layer of margin. It has plenty of traders too, so the verification steps above matter here as much as anywhere.
